The Library of Virginia, in partnership with Blackbird online journal of literature and the arts, present an evening of poetry with 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Charles Wright. A wine-and-cheese reception and book signing will follow the presentation.

Film Screenings: To Kill a Mockingbird & Hey Boo (documentary)Photo of the Byrd Theater
Join us at the Byrd Theatre as we celebrate one of America’s most beloved works of fiction with a double feature of To Kill a Mockingbird and Hey Boo, a documentary that explores Harper Lee’s personal story as told through the experiences of her book's characters Scout, Atticus, and Jem. Though the event is free, donations will be gratefully accepted to support the ongoing operations and preservation of the Byrd Theatre.

CSI Workshop for Mystery Writers with VCU Forensics Department Lab and Author Lana Krumwiede
This engaging hands-on workshop in the VCU Forensics lab will explore investigative techniques used by crime-solving professionals. Mystery writers age 16 and older will learn writing techniques from Lana Krumwiede, author of the new novel Freakling, and investigative techniques from VCU Department of Forensic Science faculty members. Space is limited.

The Library of Virginia and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts have collaborated to create the Mary Lynn Kotz Award for Art in Literature, which will be presented here for the first time, along with a presentation exploring the relationship between poetry and the visual arts. A wine-and-cheese reception will follow the program.
